The simplistic two-story, flat-roof concrete block building was erected in 1950. It housed the offices and transfer station for Citizen Express Inc., a local trucking company formed by major newspaper publishers, Charles A. Webb of the Asheville Citizen and Don Elias of the Asheville Times. Citizen Express remained active into the 1960s.
