The 1907 YMCA building was designed by local architects, Henry Osterman and Henry Brandt Gessel. The facade embod­ies classic Beaux Arts Classicism design elements and earned its place on the Na­tional Register of Historic Places in 2015. Like many YMCAs throughout the United States, the Walla Walla location was an im­portant civic meeting place that featured a mix of public spaces and services that in­cluded guest lodging rooms, a gymnasium, indoor pool, restaurant, and barber shop.
