28 & 30 Middleton Ave.
Historic Information
These adjacent homes are period examples of Victorian design typical of Nashville’s Rutledge Hill area in the 1890s. Both homes are included on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Rutledge Hill Historic District. 28 Middleton has a reset entryway, two-story bay windows and a tall mansard roof featuring a bracketed cornice and window eyebrows. The neighboring 30 Middleton, known as the Dortch House, is lower in profile but has similar roof, entryway, and design elements. Its distinctive feature is a two-bay veranda.
