2200 Prospect Ave.
Historic Information
The Central YMCA Building was built between 1911-1913 by the prominent Cleveland architecture firm of Hubbell & Benes. It served as the headquarters for the Cleveland YMCA well into the 1990s providing residential facilities for men, as well as offering physical training programs, outreach, counseling, leadership training, and job placement services. Located in the Upper Prospect historic district, the building’s street was home to Ohio’s first streetcar, which led to the construction of high-end apartment buildings along the corridor.
