The buildings, constructed in 1907 and 1928, are located in the heart of the Commercial Historic District in Downtown Columbia, which has seen tremendous growth in the last several years. Kimbrell’s Building has a long history as a retail store, having been the home to F.M. Kirby & Company, Woolworth’s, and Haverty’s Furniture. Schulte-United Building was originally built to house the Schulte-United cigar shop, and was later acquired to house H.L. Green Company Department Store.
