Historic Information
Constructed in 1914, the building located at 1231 Main Avenue was the fifth and final plant built for the Theodor Kundtz Company. The building and its namesake company have a storied history. Between the late 1880s and the mid-1920s, Kundtz’s Firm, which specialized in woodworking, casework and sewing machine cabinets, constructed four large buildings and a machine shop in the area bounded by Main Avenue, Mulberry Street, the Old Superior Viaduct, and Sycamore Street.
