Built in 1858 and located in the heart of down­town Grand Rapids, the Flatiron Building was developed to house ground-floor retail with offices and a boarding house upstairs. The four-story, brick Italianate structure is sit­uated next to 112 Monroe St N.W. and 114 Monroe St. N.W., two similarly built structures representative of the ornate architecture of the time.
